Our Minor hurlers were defeated by Kiladangan, 3-19 to 1-15, in Puckane on Wednesday, bringing our interest in this year’s championship to an end.

Our Under-8 boys enjoyed a very exciting blitz in Portroe last weekend. The lads played brilliantly and are developing into fine young hurlers. Next up is Kilruane next Saturday.

The Under-10s made the long trip to Cappawhite and travelled in huge numbers. The boys were excellent in all their games, showing great teamwork and determination. Thanks to Cappawhite for the warm hospitality. Next up is Clonlara next weekend.

Under-12 Boys
Both Under-12 teams have reached the quarter-final stages of their respective groups. The A team play on Tuesday evening in Roscrea. Details will follow on club media. The B team play on Thursday evening. Details will also follow.

Under-14 Boys
After a terrific battle against Ballinahinch–Templederry last week, the A team were just pipped at the post despite a gallant effort. The A team have no competitive game this week and will face Silvermines next week. The B team play Newport in Newport on Thursday evening at 7pm. All support is appreciated and we wish the boys every success.
Under-16 Boys
The boys recorded a fine win over Kilruane last week. They now progress to the North Tipperary quarter-final on Monday, August 10th, against Burgess in Toomevara at 7pm. All support is appreciated. Best of luck to the lads.

Well done to Eva Bailey and Emily Harmse, who proudly represented Tipperary at the Under-14 National Blitz on Saturday. The girls then enjoyed another very special experience on Sunday, attending the All-Ireland Camogie Final in Croke Park, where they had the honour of taking part in the half-time parade on the pitch with the Under-14 Tipperary team. A fantastic weekend and wonderful memories for both girls. We are very proud of you, Eva and Emily!
Under-8 Girls

Our Under-8 girls played Toomevara on Wednesday evening in a series of very competitive and exciting games. The effort, teamwork and determination shown by the girls were fantastic and it was brilliant to see the progress being made by this enthusiastic group. Training continues on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings, unless we have a match. The girls take part in their next blitz on Wednesday evening, followed by their next Go Games fixture on Saturday morning. New players are always welcome. Contact club media to come along and give camogie a try. You are guaranteed to enjoy the atmosphere and the Éire Óg spirit.

Our Under-12s had a great evening of camogie last Friday as both of our Under-12 teams took on Boherlahan in challenge matches. Thanks to Boherlahan for travelling to Nenagh and for two skilful, competitive and enjoyable games. Well done to all the girls on their great teamwork, effort and sportsmanship. We are looking forward to further challenge games this week.

Congratulations to the Tipperary Jubilee Team, who were honoured in Croke Park today to celebrate the fantastic achievements of 2001, when Tipperary won both the Junior and Senior All-Ireland Camogie titles, with the Senior team completing an incredible three-in-a-row. We are especially proud of our own clubman Michael Cleary, who managed the Tipperary Senior team to those historic successes. Congratulations, Michael. A remarkable achievement and a contribution to Tipperary camogie matched by very few.

Our Under-13 girls are back in action this Tuesday evening as they face Boherlahan Dualla in MacDonagh Park, with throw-in at 7.30pm. All support is greatly appreciated. Best of luck to the girls and management.

Nenagh Run Club visited the Borrisokane Parkrun on Saturday last to celebrate Warren’s 100th Parkrun.
Nenagh Run Club continues training every Wednesday evening at 7pm and Sunday morning at 10am in MacDonagh Park. This is an ideal running group for those interested in taking up jogging or for those looking to improve their running in a fun and social setting.

Our Junior-A hurlers bowed out of the North Championship following a thrilling 2-25 to 4-20 defeat to Roscrea in Friday evening’s semi-final in Toomevara.
It was an outstanding game of hurling with Aodhan O’Connor and Conor McCarthy raising the green flags for Nenagh.
The result brings the curtain down on our junior-A campaign for 2026 and we thank the management team of Alan Kelly, David Hackett, Michael McNamara and Eddie Tucker and panel of players for their commitment and hard work throughout the year.

Some of our under-6 players and supporters enjoying some treats after the blitz in Burgess
Our under-6 camogie girls had a fantastic morning at a blitz on Saturday in Kilcolman, where they enjoyed excellent games against Nenagh Éire Óg, Burgess Duharra and Kiladangan.
A big thank you to Burgess Duharra for hosting such a well-organised event. It was wonderful to see the girls enjoying themselves so much. Well done to all the players who took part.
Training continues next Saturday at 9.00am on our Astro. New players are always welcome to come along and give camogie a try.
Under-12
Training continues on Wednesday for our under-12 girls. August promises to be a busy month as they prepare for the final stages of the league.
Under-13
The under-13 side who played Moneygall in Nenagh
Our under-13 girls rounded off the group stage with an excellent performance against Moneygall in their final group game. Having finished top of the group, they now look forward to a home quarter-final against Boherlahan-Dualla.

Best of luck to our Minor girls, who face Borris-Ileigh in the county semi-final on Wednesday evening at 6.30pm in the County Camogie Grounds, The Ragg.

ASTROMANIA I: GLEESON GOES FULL HULK! KENNEDY & RYAN LEFT COUNTING THE LIGHTS IN ASTRO APOCALYPSE!

“GOOD GAWD ALMIGHTY… He is Broken in Half!” screamed the imaginary commentary team as four of Social Ground Hurling’s biggest superstars marched onto the Astro for a clash that had been billed for weeks as THE GREATEST MAIN EVENT IN ASTRO HISTORY!
Forget Croke Park. Forget Semple Stadium. Last Wednesdays battlefield was the Astro, where reputations would be made, legends would be born and egos would be shattered into a thousand tiny sliotars!
In the NON-BIBS CORNER, weighing in at a combined “don’t ask”, stood Jamie “The Human Wall” Kennedy and Ger “The Goal Sniper” Ryan—two men promising pain, punishment and plenty of scores.
Across the halfway line, wearing the bibs with the swagger of reigning champions, were Martin “The Goal Machine” Gleeson and his silent but deadly tag-team partner Conor “The Executioner” O’Donovan. The bookmakers made them favourites. The crowd expected fireworks. Nobody expected the massacre that followed.
Before fists… sorry… hurleys started flying, the quartet survived a brutal warm-up worthy of a WWF Royal Rumble. Three punishing five-minute drills pushed lungs, legs and pride to breaking point. End-to-end striking. Wall drills. Relentless running. There were rumours one player briefly considered retirement before the main event had even begun.
DING! DING! DING!
The bell sounded and it was Ger “The Sniper” Ryan who landed the first knockout blow, rifling home an early goal that sent the non-bibs supporters into absolute bedlam.
“WE’VE GOT NEW CHAMPIONS!” shouted nobody sensible.
Because what happened next can only be described as a sporting version of Hulk Hogan Hulking Up.
Martin Gleeson suddenly transformed from mild-mannered hurler into an unstoppable goal-scoring wrecking ball. Goal. Goal. Goal. Another goal. The Astro net was taking such a pounding it briefly considered handing in its notice.
Kennedy and Ryan threw everything at the bibs, but every attack was met with another devastating Gleeson finish. Conor O’Donovan quietly did all the dirty work, setting traps, winning possession and delivering the sort of support every championship-winning tag-team dreams of.
At half-time the scoreboard flashed like the giant screen at WrestleMania:

Could the non-bibs produce the greatest comeback since The Ultimate Warrior pinned Hulk Hogan?
Could Jamie Kennedy summon one last miracle?
Could Ger Ryan find another moment of magic?
No.
Not even close.
With the setting sun blazing directly into the eyes of the non-bibs—an interference so suspicious it would have had the referee checking for hidden managers—the second half became a one-sided demolition.
Martin Gleeson smelled blood… and then absolutely feasted.
He hammered home goal after goal with the cold efficiency of a man who had somewhere else to be by 8 o’clock. Every finish was greeted by imaginary pyrotechnics, deafening cheers and one increasingly desperate Jamie Kennedy diving around his goalmouth like a goalkeeper possessed.
To be fair to Kennedy, he produced an astonishing collection of penalty saves that prevented the scoreline from entering “call-the-authorities” territory. Without his heroics between the posts, witnesses believe double figures were not only possible—they were inevitable.
When the final whistle mercifully arrived, there was only one winner.

Martin “The Goal Machine” Gleeson walked away clutching the unofficial AstroMania Championship Belt after an outrageous haul of SIX GOALS, confirming beyond any doubt that he is currently the most feared finisher in Social Ground Hurling.
Ger Ryan refused to surrender, battling until the bitter end to notch all three goals for the non-bibs in a display of sheer determination.
Conor O’Donovan once again proved that every great superstar needs the perfect tag-team partner, quietly pulling strings while Gleeson grabbed the headlines.
And Jamie Kennedy? He may have left without the victory, but “The Human Wall” earned standing ovations for his incredible penalty saves, somehow surviving an aerial bombardment that would have sunk lesser men.
Just when exhausted spectators thought the night’s entertainment was over, the trio of Kennedy, Ryan and O’Donovan entered the dreaded ‘Two Touches Challenge’—a contest so demanding it makes climbing Hell in a Cell look like a stroll in the park.
For three gruelling minutes apiece, each warrior stepped into the middle, desperately attempting to tame the sliotar with one touch before launching it onwards with the next. There were moments of brilliance, moments of panic and at least one touch that may still be orbiting somewhere over North Tipperary.
As darkness fell over the Astro, battered bodies limped home, the imaginary commentary team packed away their microphones and the crowd left knowing they had witnessed something special.

The Senior Hurlers played JK Brackens in the first round of the County Championship last Saturday. Brackens took the win on a scoreline of 4-18 to 0-22.

The Junior A hurlers had a great win over Borris-Ileigh in the North Quarter Final on Friday last. We wish them the very best of luck in the semi final.
Junior-C
In the opening round of the championship our Junior-C hurlers recorded a 2-18 to 1-7 victory over Shannon Rovers in MacDonagh Park with Seth Shayanewako and Bill Crotty scoring our goals. We now play Ballina in our next game, please keep an eye on social media for details of this fixture.
Minor
Our minor hurlers, despite a very positive performance were beaten by Toomevara on Wednesday evening in MacDonagh Park 3-19 to 3-15 with Michael Ryan, Fionn Tucker and Cian Ryan getting the Nenagh goals. Our final game is against Kiladangan and this is expected to take place on August 5th in Puakane.

Well done to Grace O’Brien and the Tipperary senior camogie team on their Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship semi-final against Cork. It was a hard-fought contest, with Cork progressing to the All-Ireland Final.
We are incredibly proud of Grace as she continues to represent both her club and county with distinction. Well done, Grace.
Under-8 Girls
Our under-8s who played Holycross and supported the Tipperary senior camogie Team in Semple Stadium on Saturday.
Our Under-8 girls enjoyed a fantastic day out on Saturday. The day began with a fun challenge match against Holycross before the girls headed to Thurles for Supermac’s and then on to FBD Semple Stadium to cheer on Tipperary in the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship semi-final.
Although the result did not go Tipperary’s way, our girls were hugely impressed by Grace O’Brien’s performance. Grace continues to be a fantastic role model and we are immensely proud of her. Despite the disappointment of the result, she generously took the time to meet so many young supporters after the match, showing the class and sportsmanship that make her such a wonderful ambassador for both Tipperary and Nenagh Éire Óg.
A huge thank you to all the coaches, parents and supporters who helped make it such a memorable day.
Under-12 Girls
The under-12s who played Davitts of Galway at the weekend
Our Under-12 girls welcomed Davitts of Galway to Nenagh on Sunday for a very enjoyable challenge match.
Despite the windy conditions, both teams produced an excellent game, giving our girls a fantastic opportunity to test themselves against strong opposition. It was a valuable experience, with plenty of teamwork, skill and determination on display throughout.
Well done to all the players and thank you to Davitts for making the journey.

The under-13s defeated Portroe this week and will play Moneygall in MacDonagh Park on Tuesday evening.
Minor
Our Minor team travelled to Dolla on Tuesday evening to face our neighbours Silvermines. A strong first-half performance laid the foundation for an excellent victory, securing our first win of the group and a place in the semi-final.
The girls conclude the group stage against Borris-Ileigh on Tuesday evening at 8.00pm in MacDonagh Park. We wish them the very best of luck.
Blues Abroad
Fr Murphy’s Hurling Club, London: Ronan Cup winners 2026
Congratulations to Paul Ryan, who recently won the Ronan Cup with Fr. Murphy’s after they defeated Fulham Irish in the final, 5-16 to 1-12.
Following the victory, Paul embarked on a whistle-stop tour of North Tipperary with the trophy and got the opportunity to meet his idol, the man who inspired him to enter politics, Cllr Seamie Morris.
Cllr Ryan is a member of the British Green Party and was recently elected to Brent Council in North West London. Shortly after posing for their photograph, the two men entered into a lively discussion on various policies, with tensions quickly rising when ideological differences emerged over the controversial issue of pineapple on pizza.
Things escalated further as both men claimed to be the best politician in Nenagh Éire Óg, resulting in a brief shouting, pushing and shoving incident. Thankfully, Paul’s mother Elaine and Seamie’s wife Denise intervened and successfully de-escalated the situation.
Both men were made shake hands, promise to behave, to be friends and were instructed not to stand near each other during the senior match against JK Brackens.
Cllr. Ryan and Cllr. Morris promised to be friends and not fight again.

Our under-8 girls enjoyed a fantastic blitz against Kiladangan in Nenagh. They were outstanding throughout, displaying excellent skill, teamwork, determination and enthusiasm. They matched a very strong Kiladangan side every step of the way and played with the spirit that makes this group so special.
After the games, the girls enjoyed ice pops in the sunshine before recording good luck messages for the Tipperary senior camogie team, and especially Grace O’Brien, ahead of Saturday’s All-Ireland Senior Camogie Semi-Final in FBD Semple Stadium.

The under-10s at their blitz in Adare
Our under-10 girls travelled to Adare on Saturday morning to take part in a blitz, where they faced Bruff, Adare and Granagh-Ballingarry. It was a fantastic morning of camogie, with the girls enjoying four games and producing excellent performances throughout.
They showed great teamwork, skill and determination, representing Nenagh Éire Óg with great pride.

Under-13 Girls
Our under-13 girls were in excellent form as they overcame Newport Ballinahinch in splendid sunshine at MacDonagh Park.
They are back in action this Tuesday evening when they host Portroe in Nenagh. Throw-in is at 7.30pm.
Minor
Following last Wednesday evening’s defeat to Slieve Felim in Kilcommon, our minor girls return to action on Tuesday evening in the third round of their group campaign.
They face Silvermines in Dolla, with throw-in at 7.30pm.

The Late Noel Tomlinson
Noel Tomlinson congratulates Conor McCarthy moments after the full-time whistle at the Munster under-21 final in 2019.
We were all deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our dear friend and clubmate, Noel Tomlinson, this week.
From a young age, the GAA was at the heart of Noel’s life. He proudly played both hurling and Gaelic football with Kiladangan and after moving to Nenagh, he became a dedicated and much-valued member of Nenagh Éire Óg. When his sons, Noelie and Robbie, began their own hurling and Gaelic football journeys with the club, Noel threw himself wholeheartedly into club life and made an enormous contribution over many years.
Whether he was selling lotto tickets, operating the scoreboard or quietly lending a hand wherever it was needed, Noel was always willing to help. He was the kind of volunteer every club treasures. Equally memorable were his legendary storytelling, quick wit and wonderful sense of humour. Time spent in Noel’s company was always enjoyable and he will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
To his wife Marian, his children Robbie and Trish, his grandchildren Tori, Darragh, Ava, Cian, Freyah and Noah, and his great-grandson Cayden, we extend our heartfelt and deepest sympathies at this very difficult time.

After a thrilling 60 minutes of hurling, Nenagh Éire Óg came through a fiercely contested extra-time battle against Roscrea to book their place in the North Senior Hurling Final. The final score was 1-27 to 1-21, with outstanding performances from Sam O’Farrell and Jake Morris. Sam was in superb form, scoring 1-11, including the all-important goal.
The team now face Borris-Ileigh in the North Final this Sunday. Throw-in is at 4.00pm in MacDonagh Park. Best of luck to the players and management.
Junior A Football

Under-16 Boys
Our Under-16A team are in action on Monday evening when they face Ballinahinch-Templederry in Shalee at 7.00pm. Best of luck to the players and management.

Congratulations to Grace O’Brien, the Tipperary camogie team and management on their fantastic victory over Clare in the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Senior Championship quarter-final in Croke Park on Sunday, 5th July. The final score was Clare 3-13, Tipperary 3-20.
Tipperary now progress to the All-Ireland semi-final, where they will face Cork on Sunday, 25th July in Semple Stadium. We are incredibly proud of Grace as she continues to represent her club and county with distinction.
Under-6
Well done to all the girls who attended training this week. They are making great progress, and it is fantastic to see their confidence continuing to grow.

Our Intermediate team took part in the Catherine O’Connell Memorial Tournament, hosted by Burgess Duharra on Saturday morning, 4th July.
The girls enjoyed a very successful morning of camogie, progressing to the semi-final where they were defeated by Drom, who went on to win the tournament.

Our Junior A hurlers recorded an excellent 1-20 to 0-17 victory over Kiladangan in Round 2 of the North Hurling Championship on Sunday. Cian O’Farrell netted the all-important goal, while Mark Tuite and Cian Connolly contributed some superb long-range scores. Aodhán O’Connor was also in outstanding form, finishing with six points from play.
Player and Coach Development
Tommy Gleeson, Director of Sports, Tom Boland, Nenagh Éire Óg Chairman, and Sarah Darcy of the Nenagh Éire Óg Juvenile Committee recently welcomed Michael Fennelly to the complex to announce an exciting new partnership with Michael Fennelly Performance.
The club has agreed a comprehensive three-year Player and Coach Development Plan across hurling, football and camogie.
Over the next three years, Michael and his team will work closely with Tommy Gleeson and the club’s coaching committee to implement the plan. The programme will provide coaches, players and parents with the skills, knowledge and resources needed to support the continued development of all our teams on the field.

Under-12 blue team that played Portroe
Our Blue team travelled to Portroe on Wednesday evening, 24th June, and produced a superb display of teamwork, skill and determination. This was their Round 9 fixture and marked the end of their group-stage campaign. The team has gone from strength to strength each week, with every player continuing to develop and improve. Well done to all the girls on a fantastic group stage.
Following an excellent campaign so far, our Navy team now look ahead to their Round 9 fixture against Kilruane on Saturday, 11th July. Best of luck to the girls and their management.
The Under-12s will take a short break from training this coming week and will return on Monday, 6th July.

Under-13 team who played in Mary Egan Memorial Blitz
A combined squad of Under-13, Under-12 and Under-11 players travelled to Newtownshandrum on Saturday, 27th June, to take part in the Mary Egan Memorial Under-13 Camogie Tournament.
It was a fantastic morning of camogie, providing a brilliant opportunity for the girls to test themselves against strong opposition while enjoying a great day out. The players represented themselves and Nenagh Éire Óg with great pride. Well done to everyone involved.
A sincere thank you to Majella Moran for organising the trip, and to all the coaches, parents, supporters and players who travelled and helped make it such a memorable and enjoyable day.
Minor
Our Minor girls welcomed Boherlahan Dualla to McDonagh Park last Wednesday for the opening round of the Minor A Championship. In very warm conditions, the girls produced a spirited and determined performance against a strong Boherlahan Dualla side.
Although the visitors built up a significant lead in the first half, Nenagh Éire Óg responded with a tremendous second-half display and battled right to the final whistle. While the comeback wasn’t enough to bridge the gap, the girls showed tremendous character, determination and teamwork throughout.
Final Score: Nenagh Éire Óg 9-3, Boherlahan Dualla 4-27.

Under-15 Boys – Féile Peil na nÓg All-Ireland 2026
Nenagh Éire Óg’s Under-15 boys competed in Division 3 of the Féile Peil na nÓg at Wolfe Tones Baile Eachaidh GAC. It proved to be a memorable day, filled with drama, determination and every weather condition imaginable. A strong swirling wind dominated throughout, making conditions difficult and demanding resilience from every player.
Group Stage
Oliver Plunketts (Louth)
Oliver Plunketts made the brighter start and held the advantage at half-time. Nenagh battled back bravely, but a torrential downpour turned the second half into a real test of character. Despite a determined effort, Plunketts held on for victory.
London GAA
Another closely contested game followed despite the challenging conditions. The turning point came when Nenagh’s goalkeeper was forced off through injury. London capitalised with two late goals to secure the win.
A sincere thank you to Mountmellick GAA for their outstanding sportsmanship in providing crutches for our injured goalkeeper, a wonderful example of the Féile spirit. Thanks also to Leigh Rivett for the excellent first-aid care provided throughout.
Bellaghy GAA (Hosts)
Bellaghy entered the game unbeaten and full of confidence. Nenagh defended superbly into the wind during the opening half, restricting the hosts’ scoring opportunities. Bellaghy found their rhythm after the break to secure victory, top the group and advance to the Cup semi-final, while Nenagh progressed to the Shield semi-final against Scotstown GAA of Monaghan.

With the rain finally giving way to sunshine, the players swapped raincoats for sunscreen, although the swirling wind remained a constant challenge.
Nenagh produced an excellent performance and remained firmly in contention until the closing stages before Scotstown pulled away. The result brought the curtain down on Nenagh’s Féile Peil 2026 journey, one filled with pride, commitment, friendship and lasting memories.
Appreciation
A sincere thank you to James, Joe, Seán and Dan for their dedication and guidance throughout the Féile campaign. Thanks also to James and Niall for the tremendous amount of organisation across both Féile weekends, particularly the trip to Derry. Our appreciation goes to Johnny Fortune for driving the team bus and keeping spirits high throughout the journey. Thank you to Tom and Murray for looking after the refreshments and ensuring everything ran smoothly behind the scenes. A special word of thanks to Peter and Paddy, whose work as kitmen was, as always, invaluable. Finally, sincere thanks to Leigh Rivett for providing first-class first-aid support throughout the day.
Well done to every player, mentor, volunteer and supporter who contributed to a fantastic Féile experience. Bringing the Féile journey to a close with an overnight trip full of laughter, teamwork and great memories was the perfect way to finish a wonderful adventure.

Féile na nGael Division 1 National Finals 2026
On June 20th, our county Féile champions left Nenagh after meeting in the Abbey Court for an early morning snack. The National Finals took place in the Laois Centre of Excellence in Portlaoise, with twelve teams competing for honours this year.
First up for the boys were Birr. Nenagh started brightly but, as is often the case, momentum swung during the game and Birr came strongly before and after the half-time break. Nenagh finished much stronger, with goals from David Mullarkey, Kirsters Janitens and Harry Bailey helping secure a 3-8 to 1-8 victory.
In round two, the boys had a bye and watched Birr lose to Kilmacud Crokes, setting up a winner-takes-all clash in round three. The victors would progress to the Cup semi-finals while the losers would enter the Shield semi-finals. Played in O’Moore Park, Kilmacud started the brighter and Nenagh struggled to find their rhythm. David Mullarkey struck a well-taken goal but the boys were unable to close the gap, with Kilmacud emerging victorious on a scoreline of 1-11 to 1-7.
Next up was a Shield semi-final meeting with Dunloy Cuchulainns. Dunloy proved physically imposing throughout and took their scores well to record a 0-12 to 0-7 win.
The boys then watched the remainder of the competition unfold, with Naas winning the Plate Final, Lismore claiming the Shield Final and Ballincollig capturing the Cup title after a captivating final that went to extra time.
On the journey home, the squad returned to Andy’s Bistro in Nenagh for a well-deserved dinner.
A huge thank you to all the supporters from Nenagh who travelled to cheer on the boys, to everyone who supported the fundraising efforts that helped cover the costs of the day, to Phil Hennessy for looking after the team, to the staff of the Abbey Court and Andy’s Bistro, to Elaine O’Brien for the photographs, and to Niall Cahill and James Smyth for all their organisation and care of the players throughout the campaign.
Thanks also to the Juvenile Committee for all their hard work and to everyone else who helped out in any way.
The boys gained huge experience from the day. Across the country, 110 hurling teams competed in Féile competitions and Nenagh’s players finished among the last eight teams standing. They can hold their heads high after a tremendous campaign.

Michelle has been a familiar face around the club in recent weeks, spending time on the astro turf striking a sliothar against the wall, sharpening her skills and refining her first touch as she continues her remarkable journey back to playing camogie.
Michelle’s road to recovery is a truly inspirational story. Everyone in Nenagh Éire Óg is immensely proud of her courage, determination and resilience, and we look forward to seeing her, once again, don on the sky blue, navy and pink jersey.

Our Senior hurlers progress to the North Semi- Final after a good win over Toomevara on Sunday last. The final score was 2-23 to 2-18, with captain Jake Morris contributing 2-2 to the tally. They face Roscrea in two weeks time.
Junior-A
This man can level whole parishes in one second flat.
Our junior-A hurlers played Toomevara in the opening round of the championship in Cloughjordan on Friday evening. In a nail biting finish, Seánie Geaney ensured a share of the spoils with a monster point from eighty yards to leave the score 4-16 to 1-25. Seán Phelan (3) and and Darragh Walsh (1) scored our goals.

Under-6 camogie training continues every Saturday morning at 9.00am. The girls are making fantastic progress this year while having great fun along the way. We would love to welcome any new players who would like to come along and give camogie a try. Everyone is welcome.
Under-8
The under-8s enjoyed a fantastic morning on Saturday as we hosted Lorrha, Shannon Rovers and Burgess in MacDonagh Park. The girls fielded three teams, each playing three games in glorious sunshine. The progress they are making week on week is wonderful to see. Their striking, blocking, teamwork and overall skill levels were evident throughout the morning.
We also received lovely messages of thanks from the visiting clubs, all of whom thoroughly enjoyed their trip to Nenagh. This is a great reflection on the girls, their coaches and the welcoming atmosphere around the club. Under-8 camogie training continues on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. New players are always welcome. Equipment is provided for newcomers or anyone who would like to give camogie a try.
Under-12
The under-12s had a busy week of action. Our Navy team travelled to Moneygall on Tuesday, 16th June, while our Blue team hosted Toomevara in Nenagh on Thursday, 18th June. Both teams produced excellent performances, with the girls showing great skill, teamwork and determination throughout. Their hard work and commitment continue to be evident in every game.
The under-12s return to training on Monday, 22nd June. Our Blue team will travel to Portroe on Wednesday, 24th June, for their next league fixture. A number of our under-12 players will also travel to Newtownshandrum on Saturday, 27th June, to take part in the Mary Egan Memorial Blitz.
Under-14
Our under-14s rounded off their season in style with a superb display in The Ragg on Wednesday, 17th June, overcoming Templemore in the County Plate Final. It was a fantastic team performance, with the girls producing arguably their best display of the year to secure an impressive victory. Captain Eva Bailey proudly accepted the shield on behalf of the team.
Congratulations to all the players and to their coaches Cyril, Brian, Áine, Alannah, Carly, Kieran, Eamon and Daragh for their dedication, encouragement and guidance throughout the season. After a short break, the girls will be back in action soon, with both the under-13 and under-16 championships getting underway in the coming weeks.

Our Under-15 Féile Finals Fundraiser continues, with the boys clocking up thousands of minutes of activity as part of their challenge. A huge thank you to everyone who has supported the fundraiser so far.
Both of our under-15 teams have made history by qualifying for the Féile na nGael All-Ireland Hurling Final and the Peil na nÓg All-Ireland Football Final – an extraordinary achievement for this talented group of players.

That result saw them qualify for the Shield semi-final, where they faced Dunloy in a tense and low-scoring encounter. Dunloy eventually edged the contest, bringing Nenagh’s Féile na nGael campaign to a close.

Blast from the Past
In 1993, Kevin Tucker, a man famously renowned for not knowing who his team’s sponsors are, captained the Tipperary minor hurlers to a 1-12 to 1-9 victory over Cork in the Munster Final at the Gaelic Grounds. Declan O’Meara from this parish was also a member of the panel. Featured in the match programme that day was a Q&A with Kevin, which is reproduced below.
Also included is a programme from Tipperary’s league clash with Clare in 1996, featuring photographs of Eddie Tucker and one of Michael Cleary alongside a young Cathal McGrath of Burgess.

STONE COLD SKILLS AND WRESTLEMANIA THRILLS IN SOCIAL HURLING SMACKDOWN!
What a night of thrills, spills and Astro-turf warfare unfolded under the lights as Jamie Kennedy, Martin Hogan and Conor O’Donovan stepped through the ropes for another blockbuster edition of Social Ground Hurling!
The evening exploded into life with a high-octane warm-up session that would have made even the legendary Shawn Michaels nod in approval. Armed with a size 3 football and the unforgiving wall, the trio spent ten relentless minutes firing strikes left and right while surging forwards, shuffling sideways and backpedalling like three gladiators preparing for battle at WrestleMania. The ball ricocheted around the arena with all the chaos of a Stone Cold Steve Austin entrance, leaving no room for passengers.
Then came the end-to-end striking challenge, and business was about to pick up! Two warriors stationed themselves at one end while the lone ranger at the opposite flank was peppered with deliveries from every angle. Each man spent two gruelling minutes flying solo, and with the narrow confines of the Astro acting like steel cage walls, there was nowhere to hide and no chance to catch a breather. Side-to-side movement became the order of the day as the trio danced across the turf with the intensity of Bret “The Hitman” Hart stalking an opponent.
As the floodlights blazed overhead, the contest entered another gear with the dreaded “Two Touches” middle-man challenge. Each competitor stepped into the cauldron for two minutes, attempting to tame the sliotar with a velvet first touch before dispatching it downfield with precision and power. The pressure was relentless. The tension was palpable. The crowd (well, if there had been one!) would have been on its feet.
But then came the main event!
With the atmosphere crackling like The Undertaker’s entrance gong, the middle player was tasked with hunting goals against the guardians stationed at either end. This was no place for the faint-hearted. Conor O’Donovan channelled his inner Ultimate Warrior and blasted home two magnificent goals to top the scoring charts. Martin Hogan and Jamie Kennedy battled bravely and shared a goal between them, ensuring the scoreboard remained as competitive as a Royal Rumble final four.
As the final whistle echoed around the Astro, the curtain came down on a magnificent evening of sweat, skill and sporting spectacle. Three men entered the arena, three men left exhausted but victorious after another classic encounter.
The countdown now begins to the next chapter of this weekly wrestling extravaganza. Social Hurling returns next Wednesday at 8.15pm, and if this week’s action is anything to go by, it promises to be another absolute slobberknocker!

Our Junior A hurling team begin their North Championship campaign on Friday evening. The group stages will see them face Kiladangan, Toomevara and Kilruane, with their opening fixture against Toomevara. Throw-in is at 7.30pm in Cloughjordan.

Under-6 Boys
Last Saturday, our Under-6 boys travelled to Roscrea for their first blitz of the year, taking on the home side across four enjoyable games. The children had a fantastic morning and displayed great enthusiasm, energy and skill throughout. Many thanks to Roscrea GAA for their excellent hospitality and to GDA Gary O’Connor for organising a very successful Go Games morning. New players are always welcome. Under-8 Boys
Our Under-8 boys lined out against Silvermines on Saturday morning in Nenagh and produced excellent performances across all games. Great skill, great effort and great fun were on display from start to finish.

Under-10 Boys
The Under-10 boys took on Dúrlas Óg in a series of highly competitive and hugely enjoyable matches. Excellent teamwork, determination and skill were evident throughout, with all players giving their best.

Under-12 Boys
Our Under-12 boys faced Roscrea in Nenagh on Tuesday evening. Despite a strong performance, Roscrea proved tough opposition and came away with the victory. There were plenty of positives to take from the game as the boys continue to develop and improve.

Under-14 C Boys
A brilliant result for our Under-14C team, who secured a hard-fought victory away to Moycarkey-Borris last week. The win sees the boys advance to the county final, where they will take on Clonmel Óg.

Under-15 Boys – Féile Double All-Ireland Journey
Our Under-15 Féile Finals Fundraiser continues, with the boys clocking up thousands of minutes of activity as part of their challenge. A huge thank you to everyone who has supported the fundraiser so far.
Both of our Under-15 teams have made history by qualifying for the Féile na nGael All-Ireland Hurling Final and the Peil na nÓg All-Ireland Football Final.
This is an extraordinary achievement for a talented and dedicated group of players.

The Under-16s continue their preparations for the upcoming league and championship campaigns.
Huge congratulations to David Mularkey, Harry Coughlan, Kristers Janitens and Daniel O’Leary on their selection to the Tipperary Under-15 football team, who took on Laois in MacDonagh Park at the weekend.
A special mention goes to David Mularkey, who captained the side on the day, a fantastic honour for both David and the club.

Eva Bailey and Emily Harmes
Well done to Grace O’Brien, who lined out with the Tipperary Senior Camogie squad against Cork in Semple Stadium on Sunday, 14th June.
Congratulations also to Eva Bailey and Emily Harmes, who represented the Tipperary Under-14 camogie team at the Munster Camogie Provincial Blitz in Cappamore on Saturday, 13th June. The girls finished as runners-up to Cork after an excellent victory over Galway earlier in the day.

Our under-6s who played Kiladangan on Saturday
Nenagh Éire Óg’s Under-6 camogie players enjoyed a fantastic morning of camogie in Nenagh on Saturday as they took on Kiladangan in three fun and competitive matches. A big thank you to Kiladangan for travelling and helping to make it such an enjoyable occasion for all involved. Well done to all our young players for their tremendous effort, enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the morning. It was great to see their skills continuing to develop and, most importantly, to see everyone enjoying their camogie. Thanks also to our coaches, mentors and parents for their continued support.

Under-8
Our under-8s enjoying their blitz in Lorrha & Dorrha
Our Under-8 girls travelled to Lorrha on Saturday, 13th June, for another excellent blitz. From the moment they stepped onto the pitch, the girls brought huge energy and determination, taking on Burgess, Shannon Rovers and Lorrha in a series of fast-paced and competitive games. Supporters were treated to sharp striking, excellent teamwork, fearless tackling and plenty of scores as the girls showcased their developing skills. The sunshine added to a brilliant morning of camogie, with players, coaches and supporters enjoying every minute.
A huge thank you to Lorrha for their warm welcome and excellent hosting.
Under-10
The under-1o teams
Our Under-10 girls hosted Kilruane MacDonaghs on Saturday morning in Nenagh for a series of blitz games. Three excellent matches were played, with the girls showing great skill, effort and teamwork throughout. The players worked hard, learned plenty and, most importantly, had great fun. Thank you to Kilruane MacDonaghs for making the trip and helping to make the morning such an enjoyable experience for all.
Training continues on Monday evenings at 6.00pm.
Under-12
The under-12 Blue Team who played Slieve Felim Raparees
Our Blue Team played a very good game against Slieve Felim Raparees on Wednesday evening, with some excellent camogie on display throughout. The week ahead is another busy one, with our Navy Team travelling to Moneygall on Tuesday, 16th June, and our Blue Team hosting Toomevara in Nenagh on Thursday. Both teams also continue training during the week.
Congratulations to all of our Under-12 players who played a part in Gaelscoil Aonach Urmhumhan’s successful Cumann na mBunscol campaign.
Under-14
The under-14 team won their plate county semi-final last Thursday 11th June
Our Under-14 girls recorded a comprehensive victory over Ballybacon-Grange in their County Plate semi-final in Nenagh last Thursday. The girls now look forward to the County Plate Final, where they will face Templemore in the County Camogie Grounds on Wednesday, 17th June, at 6.15pm.

In 1993 Nenagh played Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams in Templemore as part of a senior hurling championship double header as Toomevara played Cashel King Cormacs the same day. Nenagh prevailed on the day 1-14 to 0-12. Below are extracts from the match programme which included a feature on club legend Mick Burns, winner of five All-Ireland senior hurling medals.

WHAT. A. SESSION. A thrilling three-player social ‘ground’ hurling workout lit up the astro last Wednesday evening as Eamon Phelan, Martin Hogan and Conor O’Donovan went toe-to-toe in a relentless display of skill, sweat and sheer determination. This was no casual knockabout, this was full-blooded hurling drama from start to finish.
The action burst into life with a high-tempo warm-up as the trio spent ten punishing minutes striking against the wall on the move, left and right side, forwards, sideways and even on the backpedal. And in a twist nobody saw coming, Martin Hogan somehow turned warm-up into a personal highlight reel, rattling in three goals and one point as if it were the most normal thing in the world.
Next came the brutal end-to-end striking drill and the intensity went through the roof. Two players anchored at one end fired rapid deliveries to the third stationed at the far end, with each player rotating through the solo role for two full minutes at a time. With no space to hide and constant lateral movement demanded throughout, there was absolutely zero chance of anyone taking a breather here.
A much-needed water break followed as lungs were refilled and minds were momentarily reset. Even then, the talk never stopped, with the current GAA Hurling Rules survey coming under the microscope in lively and detailed debate, proving that the thinking game never switches off even when the hurleys are down.
The session signed off with the nerve-shredding ‘two touches’ drill, where control had to be perfect: first touch to settle, second touch to strike on to the far end. Each player rotated twice through the dreaded role of the man in the middle, otherwise known as ‘piggy’, and by the end there was nothing left in the tank. A superb evening’s work all round and already the anticipation is building for next Wednesday’s 8.15pm showdown.
